Reedy.org Launches A New Look
On Anniversary Of Ancestors Arrival In America

Reedy.org, a genealogy web site created by fifth cousins Larry Reedy, of OH>AR>MS and Dave Reedy, of VA>AR>NV, launched in 1996. The web site is based on research they had done on their ancestors. It was one of the earlier sites of its kind and has served as a resource for many Reedy descendants looking for their roots. Larry and Dave traveled many miles trekking through the hills of Virginia searching for relatives with knowledge of times past. They spent hours listening and sharing stories as well as taking photos of photos that family members couldn't bear to part with. The research and contributions from many Reedy cousins has resulted in a genealogy file with 44,203 names; 17,518 families; 54,769 events, 5,434 places and 390 sources. This summer Larry met another fifth cousin online, Bill Reedy, who shared a web site (cathyreedy.com) that his wife Cathy had created with hundreds of photos and a genealogy file. Larry was looking for a better way to showcase all the photos he had accumulated over the years and Cathy was looking for a redesign project to enhance her portfolio. This has resulted in the launch of a new look for reedy.org including 300+ family photo albums, downloads and links to other Reedy web sites and other research resources. The launch date for the update is August 27, 2009, exactly 270 years since Johann Nuot (Hans Otto) Riedi came to America aboard the ship Samuel landing August 27, 1739, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Thank you to Larry:
Above is the announcement released about the update of this popular genealogy web site. What it doesn't say is that Larry was willing to trust me completely to redesign his site. A site that he had invested many years into and I want to express my appreciation to him for allowing me to be the one to update his web site. As a Reedy-by-marriage, I was interested in the continuation and outreach of the site for my children as a resource as well as an exercise to brush up my web design skills. Larry was enthusiastic, completely cooperative and eager to give the site a new look.
